Prairie Sundown - SOLD

I'm focusing on learning to paint the sky this year. This painting was a lesson in perseverance. I was going to wipe it. Then I decided to use a fan brush to soften the edges. It looked better. I wasn't able to get back to the painting right away so it dried. That gave me a really nice underpainting. Moral of the story — don't give up too soon : ) This is an 8 x 10 inch framed painting available in my Etsy shop. Click here to buy. You can see all my available paintings here.

Tulip Time

I must have Spring Fever. I saw these tulips in the grocery store and couldn't resist. It's been ages since I painted flowers. This was fun! This painting is available in my Etsy shop. Click here to see the details.

Sparrow on the Grapevine - SOLD

Had to get back to painting birds because I enjoy them so much. This is a 5 x 7 inch oil on canvas panel. It's available in my Etsy shop. Click here to see the details. If you see an image in my Etsy shop that is only available as a print because the original painting sold, ask me about painting it again. I did that for a customer this summer.

Prairie Sunrise

This is an 11 x 14 oil painting of a Colorado prairie sunrise on stretched oil-primed linen. I started the painting using a thin sepia color. As it dripped down the canvas it created some really nice texture that I wanted to save. I let that color dry and then painted over it but allowed some of the texture to show through. It's framed as shown in a gold canvas floater frame. This painting is available for $450 and is headed to the John Deaux Gallery in Pueblo, CO. Call the gallery or email me if you are interested in owning this painting.

Moonrise at Sunset - SOLD

I live on the prairie in southern Colorado. This moonrise scene caught me without a camera as I was out walking at dusk last summer with some friends. The beauty was storybook because the sun was setting at that moment. I excused myself, ran home as fast as I could, got my camera and took some incredible shots. This is the first painting I've done of that moonrise. This framed 11 x 14 painting is hanging at the John Deaux Gallery (719) 545-8407 in Pueblo, CO. Call the gallery or email me if you are interested in purchasing this painting for $450.

Prairie Sundown

My main artistic goal for 2015 is to paint the prairie skies of southern Colorado. This idea (to paint the sky) has been percolating in my mind for years. Now that I'm painting full time I have no more excuses. This painting is a sunset seen from my front yard. Indescribable in reality with that light shining around you. Just leaves me with a sense of awe and gratitude toward the Creator. This 11 x 14 oil painting is framed in a canvas floater frame (black with a gold front edge). Looks very nice and has a contemporary feel. Call the gallery (719) 545-8407 or email me to purchase for $450.
