Neighbors

I love to bird watch in my backyard. I have a chain link fence and the smaller birds like sparrows will perch in the holes created by the wires. It's fun to se them interact with each other. This is a 6 x 6 inch oil available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.

Jackrabbit on Alert

I live on the prairie in Colorado. This jackrabbit wandered into my yard with perfect back lighting. They are easily spooked and something caught this one's attention. This is a 6 x 6 inch oil painting available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.

Heading Home

I was sitting in my car in a Walmart parking lot and saw this woman heading home about dinner time. The sun was setting and cast these odd zigzag shadow shapes on the pavement. Inspired I took her photo. I wonder what she would think if she knew I painted this everyday moment in her life. This is a 6 x 6 inch painting available in my Etsy gallery. On the Hunt

I painted the value study of the cowboy last year but felt frozen as to how to move forward to make it into a painting. So it sat. Last weekend I took a painting workshop with artist Kim Mackey. He guided me through the process. I'm happy with the result. But it seems like the more I paint the more I realize how far I have to go. It's like learning to play the piano. Practice, practice, practice so that the music starts to flow. This is an 11 x 14 oil available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to view it and my other paintings.

Blue Jackrabbit

I have been sick with an awful cold virus for a month. Before that I was taking a class on color with artist Jill Soukup. This painting was done using 4 colors next to each other on the color wheel. It's a 6 x 6 inch oil painting available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.

Cowgirl

I'm taking a class with artist Jill Soukup in Denver on color. The significant thing for me in this painting is that I worked from a black and white photo. I had to create the color in my head. It helped me move away from just painting the photo. I tend to be too detail oriented. Anything that pushes me away from that is good : ) This is an 8 x 10 painting available in my Etsy gallery.
