Moonrise at Sunset - SOLD

I live on the prairie in southern Colorado. This moonrise scene caught me without a camera as I was out walking at dusk last summer with some friends. The beauty was storybook because the sun was setting at that moment. I excused myself, ran home as fast as I could, got my camera and took some incredible shots. This is the first painting I've done of that moonrise. This framed 11 x 14 painting is hanging at the John Deaux Gallery (719) 545-8407 in Pueblo, CO. Call the gallery or email me if you are interested in purchasing this painting for $450.

Prairie Sundown

My main artistic goal for 2015 is to paint the prairie skies of southern Colorado. This idea (to paint the sky) has been percolating in my mind for years. Now that I'm painting full time I have no more excuses. This painting is a sunset seen from my front yard. Indescribable in reality with that light shining around you. Just leaves me with a sense of awe and gratitude toward the Creator. This 11 x 14 oil painting is framed in a canvas floater frame (black with a gold front edge). Looks very nice and has a contemporary feel. Call the gallery (719) 545-8407 or email me to purchase for $450.

Red Finch - SOLD

Another painting of a red finch sunning himself on a tree top. I am pleased with this painting. I was able to loosen up and not be as careful. Doesn't seem logical but that usually makes for a better end result. It's about letting the paint be paint. This a is a 6 x 6 inch oil available in my Etsy shop for $100.

Bison Twins - GIFTED

Another painting based on our bison tour at the Zapata Ranch last spring. The hardest part of this painting for me was the foreground grass. I wiped it out a few times. I didn't want so much detail that it became a distraction from the real focus. I tend to put in too much detail. The other challenge was to make the bison in the back look like it's further back. This is a 6 x 9 inch framed oil painting and is available for $175 at the John Deaux Gallery in Pueblo, CO. Call the gallery or email me if you're interested in buying this painting.

Prairie Sunset - SOLD

This painting is of one of the many spectacular sunsets we see from our new location. This 6.5 x 10 inch framed oil painting sold for $200 as soon as it got to the local Pueblo gallery but I'm putting it online anyway. My 2015 painting plan is to focus on the prairie sky and sunsets. I have so many ideas for paintings I know I could easily spend the rest of my life working on them.

Treetop Finch - SOLD

Colorado has 300 days of sunshine a year. Even though it can be very cold outside, the sun is usually shining. This red house finch and his pals were taking advantage of the sunshine on a cold day last week sitting on the top of a pine tree and soaking up the rays. This painting is available unframed in my Etsy shop. Click here to purchase. To see my other available paintings click here.
