My husband and I went to see the National Western Stock show in Denver
where we saw a group of sheep in a pen all with pink ear tags. They have
such unique expressions. I probably took 50+ photos of sheep even
though we were there to take photos of a rodeo. This is a 5 x 5 inch oil available in my online Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.
I love this particular meadowlark pose. I've painted it more than once. This is a 4 x 4 inch oil painting on a gessoed wood panel with 1 inch sides painted dark purple. Available in my online Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.
This painting is titled Pikes Peak Sunset. I used to live much closer to Pikes Peak. Now it looks small in the distance. But my new view shows the huge sky above the mountain. This painting is a 5 x 5 inch oil on a wood panel available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.
This is the view I see from my front porch. Sunsets are constantly changing. This is the point where the orange glow becomes brightest. I tried to capture that moment in this painting. This is a 5 x 5 inch oil available in my online Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.
A few years ago on a vacation trip to Maine, I saw this orange cat people watching from the window of one of those charming New England houses. This is a 6 x 6 inch unframed oil available in my Etsy gallery.
This a a female jackrabbit. I have been watching jackrabbits on the
Colorado prairie for a few years now. The females are thinner, more
nervous, and more hungry (because they are usually nursing or pregnant.)
In the summer they tend to hang out on our green lawn for a long time
eating as much as they can. I love watching them. Their eyes and ears
make them strangely beautiful. This is a 13 x 16 inch charcoal drawing available in my Etsy gallery.
My first painting in 2018 and my first painting for over two months.
I've been down with a virus that wouldn't let go. Finally have some
energy again. Am so thankful! You don't appreciate things until you lose
them for a while. I've painted this jackrabbit before. Thought I'd
better start with something familiar. Available in my Etsy gallery.

Charcoal drawing of a young jackrabbit that was hanging around my house last summer. Available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.
I can understand why jackrabbits are often made into characters in stories. They have such a unique face. This is an 8 x 16 oil painting available unframed for $250 and framed as shown for $350. Click here to view in my online Etsy gallery.

The
clouds over the western plains are spectacular at sunset. Painting them
is quite a challenge. There are so many colors that seem to layer over
each other creating subtle shifts in value. There's also a kind of
shimmering translucence as the light passes through them. Available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.
I saw this pair in last year driving through Colorado. Personality plus. I'm calling it "Curious and Calm." This is a 9 x 12 framed oil painting available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.
I haven't painted a still life in a long time. This was a challenge. You definitely get better at painting a subject when you stick with it. This painting is a 6 x 6 inch oil available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to go to Etsy.
Storm clouds form like this on the prairie behind my home. This one got especially beautiful at sunset. This is a 10 x 20 inch oil painting on a canvas panel available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.
I've been wanting to start working on sculptures of jackrabbits. I thought a good beginning would be to do some drawings. Drawing helps you see how every part relates. This is a young jackrabbit (sort of a teenager) that was hanging around our house this summer — 7.5 x 10 charcoal drawing on paper.
I recently painted a 4 x 4 inch version of this meadowlark that sold. So this is a 6 x 6 inch. I am always surprised at what happens when I paint the same thing again. It can be very different from the first. A different moment in time creates something truly unique. This painting is available in my Etsy gallery. Saw this jackrabbit as the sun was going down running toward me. The
ears were picking up the full sunlight which turned them bright orange. This is a 6 x 6 oil painting available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.
Another painting of the storm that appeared over Pueblo, Colorado a few weeks ago and lasted into the evening. When the lightning flashed it created an orange glow and lit up the rain. This is a 12 x 12 gallery wrapped oil painting. It has 1.5 inch sides. The painting extends on to the sides. Available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.
There was an incredible storm cloud over Pueblo, Colorado a few weeks
ago that inspired this painting. When the lightning inside the cloud
flashed it would color the rain orange. Beautiful! I'm saving this for a
show but if you are interested in purchasing please contact me by email here.
Meadowlarks are one of my favorite song birds. Each one has unique black markings on its chest set against a brilliant yellow chest. This is a 4 x 4 inch unframed oil painting available in my Etsy gallery. Click here to view on Etsy.
